What are Network Alternatives?

To test transit, active transportation and road improvements, three network alternatives have been developed which represent thematic bundles of potential improvement projects.

Each alternative will be tested and evaluated to identify the highest-performing projects. These will be carried forward to the draft preferred network, which will be the TMP’s recommended future transportation network for Markham.

The preferred network could be based on projects from any combination of the three alternatives below – alternatives are used to group projects for testing purposes only!

Overview of Network Alternatives

A high-level overview of all three network alternatives is provided below. You can find more detailed information about the alternatives by reviewing each of the transit, active transportation and road alternative maps further down this page.
